These Halls Are All Decked Out! Castle Noel Celebrates Christmas, Hollywood Style!
Christmas is a holiday that means different things to different people. It’s the time of year, no matter what a person’s belief system may be, they try and treat people how we should treat people everyday. In the cold and often bitter winter season, the human spirit brightens up our world and reminds us all of our humanity and allows us to show our appreciation to those we love.
Christmas in Hollywood captures that spirit and then serves it back to us in the form of heartwarming stories of love, family and often times nostalgia. That’s where Medina, Ohio enters this article.
Wait, what? That’s right, Medina, Ohio. See, the outlying suburb of Cleveland and/or Akron is the home of Castle Noel. A magical place full of movie memorabilia that will warm any heart and provide smiles for all those who enter. You’ll find something from just about any of your favorite holiday classics. From “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” to “A Christmas Story” to “Elf” to “A Christmas Carol” to “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and everywhere in-between, you’re not going home with a frown and that’s a promise.
Castle Noel is in the heart of downtown Medina and it spans across several buildings that are all connected.
You enter many different sections and each are of a different theme. You’ll see everything from retired window displays from New York City to the Grinch and his sleigh. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit with Santa before sliding down a replica slide straight from the classic movie, “A Christmas Story.” They had JUST waxed the slide before we quickly mad our way down! By the way, a lot of that movie was filmed and took place in Cleveland. In fact, you can also visit the home used for the exterior scenes, complete with a “major award” in the front window, but be careful, it’s “Fra-gee-lay! We have visited the house before, so we just drove by there on this trip.
Back at Castle Noel though is the MAIN reason for our trip. In our home, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is our favorite Christmas flick, so when I saw that Uncle Eddie’s RV is housed at Castle Noel, I almost immediately purchased our tickets. Best. Decision. Ever!
I won’t spoil all the magic that Castle Noel has in store for you, but I will share many of my favorite photos for you below.
If you like what you see, I highly encourage you to make the 4-1/2 hour trip from Central Kentucky to Medina, Ohio. Shoot, plan a stop at the “Christmas Story” house and a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Can’t go wrong with a long weekend like that!
