Album Review: Eastern Kentucky’s Josh Nolan Releases ‘Kind Heart To Follow’ On May 17th
I wanna say something that likely won’t mean anything to you, unless you know Josh Nolan. We’ll get to his new album momentarily, but I feel the need to share some insight that I feel is relevant. Now what I am about to say, is not a negative thing. Perceptions can be tricky when trying to get the information to folks in a manner that makes sense to everyone. So follow me as I explain why this young man should be on your radar.

A Revival Like No Other At Cosmic Charlie’s
The Kentucky music family came together to celebrate St. Patty’s Day with the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival as the soundtrack. From well-known artists to supporters of this site that have nearly no experience performing, this bill was truly a community effort and that was absolutely by design. Now you may ask why would I give performance spots to someone with little to no experience. It’s really simple, I enjoy helping people. Especially those that are supportive of me. I’m not saying that the next Elvis Presley played on Sunday, but several folks got the opportunity to not only perform but to perform to a crowd. If I spark one…

Chico: A Documentary Short Film. Playing Good Country Music And Treating Everybody Right.
We have all heard tales of these larger than life characters. Most were from old neighborhoods or they were born out of a crime and even sometimes, they were within our own families. Here in Kentucky, you have stories that range from Daniel Boone to Bad Tom Smith to Floyd Collins. While most legends usually wind up being more fiction than fact, filmmakers Zach Curry and Joe Whalen sought to document a current legend living within our midst and they give you an insiders look at the evolution

The Power Of The Female Voice Was On Full Display At The Sweet Thing Jamboree In Irvine
If you follow a vehicle with Delaware tags into Estill County, you know you’re in for a great time. Why? Because the tiny Appalachian town of Irvine is the heart and soul of our currently burgeoning musical community. Sure larger cities host larger crowds and more famous bands, but Irvine is special and the folks from Delaware punctuate my point perfectly. Those folks drove to Irvine for one thing and one thing only, the music. I’ve said it a hundred times by now, but Kentucky is leading the charge in producing raw, genuine down-home, humble artists that forge bonds like the Grateful Dead did in San Francisco before taking on…

Jake Brakes And Heartaches. Coby Langham, Sean Whiting, Laid Back Country Picker and Jason Sinkhorn Invade The Burl
Having been around music and musicians, I know the nervousness and anxiety-inducing thoughts an artist goes through as they release new music. No matter how confident you are or how great you may feel the music is, you still worry about being too open and how others will receive and perceive your music. On Saturday night at The Burl, Coby Langham went through those very emotions and fears as he unleashed his debut EP, ‘Years On The Road’. If you’d like to know our thoughts on the EP, you can find that here. When I asked Coby before the show, how he overcame his fears, he gave a very simple…

Cinder & Smoke Fest Promises Great Food, Cold Drinks And The Perfect Soundtrack To Summer
Here at Capture Kentucky, we do our best to shine a light on Kentucky’s greatest asset, her people. That’s the reason we decided to create the Cinder & Smoke Fest. We wanted to create an opportunity to bring people together while allowing folks that are way more talented than us, to have a stage and a crowd. Mother Nature was unkind to us in July, but thankfully we were able to regroup and focus on a new date. On Sunday, August 26th, Proud Mary BBQ in Lexington, KY will host our inaugural Cinder & Smoke Fest. We are bringing in some of our favorite Kentucky bands and artists from all…

Just What We Needed. A Recap Of Our Networking Night At Austin City Saloon.
When I created Capture Kentucky, I had several ideas and paths that I planned on taking. The site was created to showcase anything and everything that we felt made Kentucky cool. We’ve tried our hand at covering different events like NASCAR, Flat Track Motorcycle Racing, World of Outlaws Racing, a Ballet, the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame, several festivals, MLB and MiLB Baseball, Car Shows, a Motorcycle Club Ride, the WWE, a Fire Station and even Keeneland. We’ve also covered tons of great concerts.

Tyler Childers Returns Home To The MAC In Prestonsburg
I’ve got an admission to make. Tyler Childers has blossomed into a genuine star and he has done so, right under my nose. I ran UnsungMelody.Com for years, but stepped away to ready my son for college. In that nearly two year span, Tyler and his band, The Food Stamps, have toured relentlessly and built a huge underground following. Now, I wasn’t totally oblivious to him, we did manage to snap a photo of him at the one and only “Buckle Up Fest” held in Cincinnati. (You can see that coverage here.) BUT, until I began Capture Kentucky back in April of this year, he had slipped off my radar.…
