Tyler Childers Helps Propel Kentucky Forward At The Paramount In Ashland
Ashland, Kentucky – The Appalachian Regional Commission held their conference in Ashland recently. Their goals are to help Appalachia continue to grow both economically and socially. Their purpose is primarily focused on collaboration and community. While several events were held, the Crown Jewel took place at the historic Paramount Arts Center. The night began with Huntington, West Virginia’s Charlie Brown Superstar. Tyler Childers fans know CBS from his ‘Joyful Noise’ remix versions included on Tyler’s album, ‘Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven.’ He provided a set of classic songs that had his own spin. Hearing dance beats behind songs from Hank Williams to The Kentucky Headhunters, isn’t something you…

Album Review: The Local Honeys Bring Kentucky To The World With Their Self-Titled Release On La Honda Records
Have you ever heard a song or artist that you immediately knew where they’re from and what to expect? It’s not all that common, but when it happens, I often find there’s an unusually deep connection with that song or artist moving forward. It’s like they allow you to know who they are immediately. There’s no digging around, trying to figure them out. What you see, or in this case, what you hear, is exactly what you get. It’s those artists that I find incredibly refreshing, and endearing. The Local Honeys give you that immediate introduction. With their new self-titled release on La Honda Records, these two ladies have embodied…

So I want to re-introduce you to a young man that is about to make his own push and hopefully climbs his way up a few of those charts himself. Grayson Jenkins may or may not be a new name to you, either way you’re gonna find something you’ll like on ‘Turning Tides.’ That’s the brand new album from Mr. Jenkins,…

Grayson Jenkins needs no introduction around here, but since we have a pretty decent amount of new folks, I’ll give ya the cliff notes version. The Spark Of Hope. The Important Role Of The Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg
I approached the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg back in 2017. They had no idea who I was and on a personal level, I had no idea who they were. Over time, I have worked closely with Joe Campbell. Joe is the Executive Director at the Mountain Arts Center, or the MAC, as it’s affectionately referred to. Joe and I bounced ideas off of each other, helping each other move forward. I asked if he’d like to partner up to create opportunities for Kentucky artists. He said yes and we began to discuss different ways to accomplish that goal. I’ve been working on and thinking about this article for quite…

A True Kentucky Gentleman. An Interview With J.T. Cure, Bassist With Chris Stapleton
One of the more fascinating things about Kentucky, is the fact that you know the sights or sounds of many fellow Kentuckians, but you often times don’t know their name or what they do. I bet I could name 25 musicians that are in popular acts and you would likely have no idea they were Kentuckians. By now, you’ve heard the name Chris Stapleton. He is a fellow Kentuckian who has made his mark as a Kentucky, loud and proud. What you may not know, is that his bass player, J.T. Cure, is also a fellow Kentuckian. J.T. grew up in Elkhorn City and spent time as part of the…

The Wooks Return To Louisville With The Lil Smokies At Zanzabar
Kentucky is known as the bluegrass state. Some days, I’m not sure if it’s due to all the beautiful horse farms or the fact that bluegrass music was born here. At any rate, we’re going with the latter for this article. One of the finest bluegrass bands around is based right here in Bourbon County, which is also where Capture Kentucky happens to call home. That may be a force that would cause many to be biased towards an artist. A little hometown love. That isn’t who we are here at Capture Kentucky. We promise you that we will never just put our name on something that we don’t believe…
