Pink Makes A Stop In Louisville On Her Beautiful Trauma World Tour
I’ve had the opportunity, and great privilege, to witness and even cover many of the biggest musical stars in the world. Arguably though, I have never had the opportunity to photograph a more famous female star than the beautiful young lady that you know by the name of Pink. If you follow this site, the fact that I’m covering a P!nk show may catch you off-guard a bit. While I won’t claim to be a huge pop fan, P!nk is, on a personal level, my favorite pop female voice. She is my biggest guilty pleasure in music. She is such a confident, talented, funny and real star. I am equally…

In Honor Of The Country Music Highway, 23 Kentucky Artists You Need To Know!!
When I sat down to write this article, it was originally going to be just ten artists. I had so much trouble trying to whittle down my list, that I ultimately decided to write until I felt the list was full. Turns out that the magic number wound up being twenty-three, so I figure why not dedicate this article to the Country Music Highway or as the Government calls it, U.S. 23! This list includes every genre out there, so there truly is something for everyone here. If you know me at all, talent is talent, so enjoy this musical smorgasbord. I hope you find an artist that compels you…

Kris Bentley’s Star City Circus Jam At The Mountain Arts Center In Prestonsburg
You are asking yourself, what is a Star City Circus Jam? Glad you asked! Star City Circus Jam is a joint effort between The Revival (Kris Bentley’s (Sundy Best) band) and the Mountain Arts Center. The idea was to bring local and regional musicians and artist together for a day of music and arts. The Mountain Arts Center was the perfect place to host this gathering. The festivities got underway at 2 pm with musical performances in the lobby by Waylon Ray Nelson, Brandon Campbell and Prototype. Tables were set up near the concession stand for a free community lunch provided by The Lunchroom Project. On the other side of…

Dancing The Night Away With Magnolia Boulevard At The Burl
If you’ve seen this site before, you’ll know the concept. I find Kentucky bands and artists that I feel need a little spotlight and I do my best to convey the reasons you should care. My motto is pretty simple, support the artists or lose the art. That should be a pretty compelling argument, but I’m sure you’ll want more, so let’s get started. One of the bands that have been on my radar for some time, is Lexington’s Magnolia Boulevard. I’ve watched several performances on the ole Tube of You, but I just hadn’t had the opportunity to catch them live. Thankfully though, that all changed on Saturday night…

Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi & The Steel Woods Had Us Living Like Hippies At Rupp Arena
If Country Music is King in Kentucky, Rupp Arena is it’s Palace. Kentucky’s Queen will always be Loretta Lynn, but on Friday, the Palace got a visit from a Princess. As Miranda Lambert brought her “Livin’ Like Hippies” Tour to Lexington. In tow where Jon Pardi and The Steel Wheels. The cool thing about a Country show at Rupp Arena is there’s usually a pre-show concert in the lobby of Heritage Hall, near the food court. Just so happens, some old friends were playing the Austin City Sound Stage on Friday. Scott Said & Backroads don’t really need an introduction around here, they’ve long been considered one of the premier…

Kentucky’s Short & Company Release Debut Album, Lost in a Spin, March 29
Raised in Jackson, Kentucky (Sturgill Simpson’s hometown), singer-songwriter and genre-bending guitar blazer, Jeremy Short, has quickly risen to the top shelf of must-hear players. Short was raised in a musical family where music poured out everywhere – at church, the piano, the dinner table – you name it. The son of a rock ‘n’ roll drummer, he first found his professional groove as lead guitarist and frontman for the R&B horn band, Downtown King, and the lead guitarist for Sasha Colette’s red-hot Americana backing band, The Magnolias. Now armed with his own water-tight rhythm section, the twenty-something rounds out Short & Company with the talents of Trevor Litteral (bass, backing…

Join Us At Rupp Arena On Friday For Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi And The Steel Woods!
Miranda Lambert has been on the road early in 2018 on her new “Livin’ Like Hippies” tour. You’d be hard-pressed to name a female act bigger than she is in Country Music. So her stop in Lexington at Rupp Arena on Friday is a pretty dog-gone big deal. So join us for a performance from Scott Said & Backroads in the Civic Center before the show. Then join us inside as one of my favorite bands, The Steel Woods opens up the night. I saw these guys with Blackberry Smoke last year, before their album was released and they blew me away. I’m betting that trend continues. Can’t wait to…

Sold Out! Dillon Carmichael and Tyler Booth At Austin City Saloon In Lexington
There are times when I do what I do here at Capture Kentucky and I find it difficult to convey just what I want to say. It’s not writer’s block or anything like that, it’s just that some things just have to be experienced to truly understand them. This past Saturday night with Dillon Carmichael and Tyler Booth was one of those moments. Having said that, I want to try and tell a different angle to this story. I want to shine a light on just how special this show could wind up being. Only time will tell us for sure, but I believe we all witnessed a show that…

Guitar Virtuoso John 5 Makes A Stop At Lexington’s Manchester Music Hall
There are very few guitarists that are as versatile as John 5. He’s known for his gothic styling and stints playing with both Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, but there is much more to this guitar virtuoso. He has even written a song with Kentucky’s own, Black Stone Cherry. That track is titled “Killing Floor” and can be found on their ‘Between The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea’ release. We were certainly grateful that he chose to make a stop in Lexington at the Manchester Music Hall. We hope you enjoy the photos!
