Metal Legends Metallica Invade The KFC YUM Center For A Record Setting Night!
Few names in music are bigger than that of Metallica. The San Francisco thrash metal band that threw a middle finger in the air and took the Frank Sinatra route. They did things their way and that road eventually led to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. The band wanted their first release to be titled, “Metal Up Your A$$,” but the band was told by their label that would not fly. The bands complied by naming it ‘Kill ‘Em All”, a nod to their lack of respect to the suits at the label. Their partying ability was legendary and the band lived the rock’n’roll lifestyle to the full…

Bob Weir needs no introduction. As a founding member of The Grateful Dead, Bob has enjoyed a successful career. His latest incarnation, Bob Weir and the Wolf Bros rolled into Cincinnati’s Taft Theatre. I was lucky enough to capture a few images for ya. I hope you enjoy’em half as much as I did taking them!!

Josh Turner And Mo Pitney Delight The East KY Expo in Pikeville
Why was it a good night to get in out of the rain at the East Kentucky Expo Center? I’ll tell you why, Josh Turner brought Mo Pitney along for a night of traditional country music. Mo Pitney was up first. He took the stage with just his voice and a guitar. For the next few minutes he entertained the crowd with his original tunes and some great Roger Miller covers. Mo grew up playing bluegrass, and some compare his roots and voice to Kentucky’s own, Keith Whitley. He was the perfect choice to open this night. No frills just a man and his guitar singing some super cool tunes!

Who Is The Next Star From Kentucky?
I want to tell you folks a little story. About 10 years or so ago, there was a show in Campton, Kentucky. Campton’s pride at the time was Stitch Rivet. Also on the bill were Lexington’s Valrosa and Florida’s Stereoside. That show was important for a whole slew of reasons, but I want to tell a story about a young man that rocked out as hard as anyone that day. This young man absolutely loved Stitch Rivet and Valrosa. He was front and center for most of the show. Just so happens, this young man’s Uncle

Kane Brown Brings Granger Smith And Danielle Bradbery To The Corbin Arena
I saw a picture posted from the Corbin Arena staff at around noon on the day of the show and there were already fans waiting at the doors to get in. That’s usually a great indicator of how the night is going to go. When tickets went on sale a few months ago the show sold out in just a few hours and even with a lengthy traffic delay (almost an hour, not the Arena’s fault, but due to a traffic accident) every seat in the house was full! Not just full but full of enthusiastic and loud fans! As I mentioned there was a lengthy traffic delay and I,…

The Power Of The Female Voice Was On Full Display At The Sweet Thing Jamboree In Irvine
If you follow a vehicle with Delaware tags into Estill County, you know you’re in for a great time. Why? Because the tiny Appalachian town of Irvine is the heart and soul of our currently burgeoning musical community. Sure larger cities host larger crowds and more famous bands, but Irvine is special and the folks from Delaware punctuate my point perfectly. Those folks drove to Irvine for one thing and one thing only, the music. I’ve said it a hundred times by now, but Kentucky is leading the charge in producing raw, genuine down-home, humble artists that forge bonds like the Grateful Dead did in San Francisco before taking on…

Kentucky’s Prince Charming, Dillon Carmichael, Comes Home To The Kentucky Castle
In a rather short period of time, Kentucky’s Dillon Carmichael has staked his claim as one of the best young songwriters in Nashville. Dillon moved to Nashville right after High School. He landed a publishing deal and took off chasing his dream and that’s where I want to let Dillon’s lyrics speak for themselves. In the track “That’s What Hank Would Do”, Dillon tells us how he became the young man he is today. Check it out: I pulled into Nashville Writin’ songs for the radio But chasin’ a sound didn’t work I had to stick to what I know And then I asked myself “What would Hank do?” He’d…

Jake Brakes And Heartaches. Coby Langham, Sean Whiting, Laid Back Country Picker and Jason Sinkhorn Invade The Burl
Having been around music and musicians, I know the nervousness and anxiety-inducing thoughts an artist goes through as they release new music. No matter how confident you are or how great you may feel the music is, you still worry about being too open and how others will receive and perceive your music. On Saturday night at The Burl, Coby Langham went through those very emotions and fears as he unleashed his debut EP, ‘Years On The Road’. If you’d like to know our thoughts on the EP, you can find that here. When I asked Coby before the show, how he overcame his fears, he gave a very simple…

If you’re a reader of this site, you’ve likely read one of the many articles that I have written about Kentucky’s newest favorite son, Tyler Childers. Black Stone Cherry Return Home To Glasgow For Two Sold-Out Shows At The Historic Plaza Theatre
If you’re a reader of this site, you know that attending hometown shows of Kentucky artists is our favorite activity. So on Saturday we loaded up and headed to Glasgow for night two of Black Stone Cherry’s sold-out performances at the historic Plaza Theatre. The guys all grew up in and around the small nearby community of Edmonton. They formed several years ago and have had a tremendous run over the last 12 years or so. After releasing several albums under the Roadrunner Label, the band left for greener pastures and ultimately ended up at Mascot Records. So with a new found freedom and total control over their creativity and…
