Black Stone Cherry’s Kentucky Pride Was On Full Display At The Paramount In Ashland

For a nice warm Friday night, the Paramount Arts Center was the place to be, and for the number of people that showed up, they knew it was going to be a good time! It was a night full of some good ol’ Southern Rock music! The first band to get on stage was none other than Northeastern Kentucky’s very own Devil’s Creek Special! They opened up for The Georgia Thunderbolts and Black Stone Cherry, but with the amount of energy that they had you would’ve thought they were headlining. And they had a killer cover of “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash, and the Paramount was in a full swing sing-a-long with the band!

Next up was The Georgia Thunderbolts. Man, these boys could really get down with some Southern Rock music! The music that they played really had the crowd going! The songs that they played were varied anywhere from “Midnight Rider” to a cover of Bad Company’s “Rock Steady”, which is by far one of
the best covers I’ve heard, then followed up with their song “Spirit of a Working Man” and even played a cover from good ol’ Lynyrd Skynyrd. These guys had the crowd on their feet and never gave them a chance to sit down!

Last, but definitely not least came along Black Stone Cherrrrrry! These guys came out with no lights on, but they shined so bright that everyone saw them! All you could see was them smiling from ear to ear! The band really came to play their hearts out, gave a hell of a show, and were all about the crowd!

The love that they have for the state of Kentucky was very obvious and a highlight for me! Black Stone Cherry played so many of their songs ranging from “Burnin’”, “In My Blood”, a cover of “Can’t You See”, a cover of “Give Me One Reason” from Tracy Chapman in which they put their own rockin’ spin to it, “Hollywood in Kentucky” and even “Blame it on the Boom Boom!” And of course, they ended the night with Lonely Train and Blind Man!

If you guys were at the concert, you know it was great!!! If you weren’t at the concert, you missed one hell of a show and need to go see these guys! You will not be disappointed!
