Ringing In The New Year At Home With Tyler Childers At The Appalachian Wireless Arena In Pikeville
Okay, be honest, Pikeville Kentucky is not the first place that comes to mind when thinking about New Years Eve festivities. That thought belongs to a city square in a metropolis up north that has a population larger than the entire state of Kentucky. A party made famous by Dick Clark and carried on today by Ryan Seacrest and a host of other celebrities, but today on New Years Eve 2019 THE party is in Pikeville Kentucky! Because this New Years Eve here in Pikeville, Tyler Childers has gathered family and friends for the third and final sold-out party at the Appalachian Wireless Arena. He had fellow Kentuckian Darrell Scott…

Charlie Daniels, The Kentucky Headhunters and Kaleb Lee Delight In Pikeville!
One of the things Jonathan told me he was looking for when I joined Capture Kentucky several years ago, was that if it was cool and happened in Kentucky or had a Kentucky connection he was interested. Let me ask you this and you tell me if this qualifies. I think I know the answer before I ask but here goes, does The Kentucky Headhunters playing on stage in the mountains of eastern Kentucky qualify as cool? Maybe an emerging artist in Kaleb Lee and former contestant on The Voice born in western Kentucky playing on that same stage, is that cool enough? Or to top Kaleb and The Headhunters,…

Two Days Of Music At The North Fork Music Festival In Hazard
In its inaugural year, the North Fork Music Festival brought some of the best talent our great Commonwealth has to offer. Performances on Friday included Whiskey River, Trippin’ Roots and Bourbon Branch. Saturday was also stacked!! Hazard got to jam with the likes of Taylor Austin Dye, Sydney Adams, Short & Company and the one and only Laid Back Country Picker. LB brought some good country music and as always, he was treating people right!

Ashley McBryde Delights Prestonsburg Alongside Nicholas Jamerson At The Mountain Arts Center
Tonight’s near-capacity show at the Mountain Arts Center saw Ashley McBryde bringing her Girl Going Nowhere Tour into East Kentucky along with Prestonsburg’s own Nicholas Jamerson. It is always good to be back at one of my favorite venues in east Kentucky, well for that matter not just Kentucky but just about anywhere. In my opinion, you would be hard-pressed to find a better thousand seat venue than the Mountain Arts Center. Beautiful building, top-notch staff and incredible sound and lights! But enough of that, let’s talk about tonight’s music. As I said earlier Nicholas Jamerson is from right here in the city of Prestonsburg, he’s covered a lot of…

Black Stone Cherry Electrifies On Their “Carry Me On Down The Road” Tour At Cincinnati’s Bogarts!
It had been 25 years since I’ve been to a show at Bogart’s. The Venue hasn’t changed much but the area around sure has! Changed for the better, best I could tell. I did learn one thing though, soccer fans are hard core! The Cincinnati FC was having a match near Bogart’s, the fans were gathering together for what I was about to find out was a march to the stadium in the pouring rain, most were soaking wet, banging drums while chanting/singing. Hardcore I tell ya! Bowling Green Kentucky’s own The Josephines took the Bogart’s stage first. They describe themselves as “a rag tag group of rock n roll…

Josh Turner And Mo Pitney Delight The East KY Expo in Pikeville
Why was it a good night to get in out of the rain at the East Kentucky Expo Center? I’ll tell you why, Josh Turner brought Mo Pitney along for a night of traditional country music. Mo Pitney was up first. He took the stage with just his voice and a guitar. For the next few minutes he entertained the crowd with his original tunes and some great Roger Miller covers. Mo grew up playing bluegrass, and some compare his roots and voice to Kentucky’s own, Keith Whitley. He was the perfect choice to open this night. No frills just a man and his guitar singing some super cool tunes!

Kane Brown Brings Granger Smith And Danielle Bradbery To The Corbin Arena
I saw a picture posted from the Corbin Arena staff at around noon on the day of the show and there were already fans waiting at the doors to get in. That’s usually a great indicator of how the night is going to go. When tickets went on sale a few months ago the show sold out in just a few hours and even with a lengthy traffic delay (almost an hour, not the Arena’s fault, but due to a traffic accident) every seat in the house was full! Not just full but full of enthusiastic and loud fans! As I mentioned there was a lengthy traffic delay and I,…
